8 DAYS FROM FES TO DESERT MERZOUGA

Day 1: Arrival at Fes

As soon as you land in Fes airport and get to riad, we will begin exploring the city especially the old Medina where you are to see Bab Boujlooud (tanneries). Subsequently, the tour guide who speaks English will lead you to visit Dar Batha as well as a Hispanic Moorish where to see Art Museum. You will also go to visit Bou Inania Quranic school in which you will see young people memorize Quran. More than that, you will head to see tanneries of Chouara where leather is made from sheep and cows skins. After that, you will be teaken to visit the oldest university in the world ‘El Quaraouine University’ which was built since 859 AD. After the guide makes sure you visit all the important sites, you are returning to Riad for dinner and bed.

Day 2: Fes – Meknes

As soon as you enjoy your breakfast, we will go travel to Meknes. An hour later, you are to start exploring some historical sites in this city. At first, you are visiting El Hdim square in which you will see snake magicians and other entertainers as well as traditional shops. After that, you will go to see Bab El Mansour. It is a big gate which enters into the old Medina and quarter of Jew with huge walls. A while later, you will move to visit the Royal Granaries. You are going to a hotel for accommodation.

Day 3: Meknes – Azrou – Midelt – Rissani – Merzouga

Once you finish having your breakfast in Meknes, we will leave for Azrou. After an hour, we arrive at this mountainous city where you will have a chance to see a large forest full of oak and cedar trees on which you may see wild monkeys living. As you continue your trip ahead among the Atlas hills, we will reach Midelt which is known by mineral and crystal rocks. In addition, you are having lunch in this city and pursue your way across the summits of the Atlas Mountains via Tizi Ntalghamt Pass through the summit of the Atlas Mountains and along Ziz Valley carved into rocky gorges whereby we will stop to take pictures of wonderful views. You will feel the beginning of Sahara as you are getting close. Later on, we will pursue our way past Errachidia towards Sahara Desert (Merzouga) where we will go ridding camels for the night in a camp and enjoy the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi. During your camp, you will have a chance to watch both the sunset and sunrise over the sands as well as Berber music at night.

Day 4:Tour in Merzouga

For sure, your guide will wake you up to watch the golden sunrise over the sands of Sahara. After that, the camels will bring you back to the hotel for a shower and breakfast. Moreover, your are touring around by a 4*4 car to visit caves with fossils and then continue your tour to see Tissrdmin in which some films were produced. Later on, we are crossing a part of desert with volcanic rocks until we get to Khamlia village that is known by Gnawa music and dancing during August every summer. Also, you are going to see Serji lake which attracts pink and white birds. Afterwards, we are to keep on our way to Rissani for lunch of traditional pizza and pay a visit to its Kasbah. In the afternoon, you will return to spend the night in Riad.

Day 5: Merzouga – Gole del Toudgha – Dades Valley – Ouarzazate – Dades Gorges

We will go to Toudgha Gorges, after you have your breakfast. These gorge held Lawrence Of Arabia film as it has wonderful views of cliffs. After you have lunch in Toudgha, you will pursue your way to Boumalne Dades where you are to go along Dades valley towards deep gorges. So, you are going for a walk within rocky hills, and there you will see some villagers’ way of living. For a while later, we are going to move in the direction of Ouarzazate via the road full of thousand Kasbahs and have a pause in Kalaa Magouna to enjoy colorful views of roses in the valley. Also, you will have a chance to visit a cooperative which produces perfumes. Afterwards, we will continue our way to Skoura to visit its Kasbah and spend the night in a hotel.

Day 6: Ouarzazate – Cascade of Ouzoud

As soon as you enjoy your morning meal, you are coming across Ouarzazate which holds the production of foreign and Moroccan films every year in Ait BeHaddou Kasbah. It is the biggest Kasbah in the country and is a UNESCO historical place. Moreover, you will visit Kasbah Taourirt. After you do that, we will continue our road up Tizi N-oufti where we cross the summits of the Atlas Mounts which look terrific with Berber villages among the colorful rocks. In this place, you are going to visit a natural bridge called Imi Nifri (Cave mouth) in which you can save some photos. Later, we are to drive up a hill to reach wonderful Ouzoud waterfalls which are 100 Meters high. It is a great place to see in Morocco, because you will take of the advantages of clean water for bathing. Near this cascade, there is a hotel where to spend the night.

Day 7: Cascades of Ouzoud – Marrakech

When you have your breakfast, we are tripping towards Marrakech. About 3 hours later, we will get to Marrakech where you will go sightseeing a lot of places. At first, you are going to see different markets including: Smata-booties, Souk El-Haddadine as well as Chouari market where baskets get woven. More than that, you are to see another souk which sells leather things and jewellery shops. After that, you will also pay a visit to Ben Yucef old Mosque as well as a Quranic school next to Mezquita mosque. Besides, you are to see Akmoravide Koubba and then going to Museum of Marrakech. Next, the guide will lead you to see Bahia palace and another palace called Dar Si Said. Also, you are also to see El Mansour mosque and the historical site of Saadian Tombs. After dinner, you are going out to for a walk in Jamaa Lafna square where you will see snake magicians and other entrertainers like music bands, water sellers and tattoo makers. Going back to the hotel for bed.

Day 8: Marrakech Marrakech airport

As soon as you finish having your breakfast, you will be taken to the airport to leave for Italy according to your flight time.
